Photomontage

While photographs are composed in an instant in time, my collaged pieces amass disparate photos and scans
to create singular images that never before existed in reality and where time is upended.

For me, infinite possiblities of composition and narrative unfold with this process, heightening intricacy and intimating meaning beyond that of the solo photograph.

The Process

Images are digitally collaged in computer, then printed on a variety of media—Hahnemuehle Bright White Rag, Slickrock Metallics, Asian and imported papers, and window mylar—basically any substrate that will accept ink.

Depending on the project, I may continue to collage the prints, frames, or panels with more imagery, wax, metallic leaf, feather, and odd ephemera that are intrinsic to telling the story.
